What does R mean on a fuse? ›

Class R (“R” for rejection) fuses are high performance, 1⁄10 to 600A units, 250V and 600V, having a high degree of current-limitation and a short-circuit interrupting rating of up to 300,000A (RMS symmetrical). Cooper Bussmann Class R's include Classes RK1 Low-Peak and Limitron fuses, and RK5 Fusetron fuses.

Most blade fuses are designed for 12v electrical systems and are primarily color-coded with the amperage rating written on top. These rectangular-shaped fuses have two metal prongs that fit into slots on a fuse panel or fuse box.

There are four main fuse types found in vehicles today: Micro or standard fuse taps, Mini, low-profile mini, and ATO fuses. These fuses all look physically different, and simply taking the fuse out, showing its teeth, is plenty to be able to tell what type it is.
